Marcel is Vice President of WORKSHOP8 and is responsible for the firm’s business development efforts. As Senior Architect he develops overall architectural concepts and construction details, manages the work product of consultants, and reviews and coordinates architectural and consultant drawings for compatibility. His broad experience with commercial, multifamily, and healthcare projects encompasses all phases from design through production and contract administration and spans two continents. Marcel has overseen projects with complex components requiring close collaboration with inspectors and plans reviewers to provide design solutions that maintaining a safe and code compliant building. He has a track record of efficiently coordinating team members to keep projects on budget and on schedule.

Marcel was born and raised in the Netherlands and moved to the United States in 1988 at the age of 20. Following high school in the Netherlands, where he earned an electrician’s diploma at a trade school, he completed two years in an electronic and electrical engineering program prior to moving to the U.S. Marcel received his Master of Architecture from Montana State University where he graduated with honors and was awarded first place in his masters thesis project. After graduation, Marcel worked for a firm in Missoula for two years and then moved to Colorado. He is a licensed Architect in Colorado.
