Building permit for Mariposa Phase VI has been received and the project will break ground in July, with an expected completion date of August 7th, 2015. I can’t wait to see the project start going up, that is the most fun part of my job!
The $16.000,000 building will house 94 residential units and 2,200 SF of commercial space, plus ample outdoor space for residents.
The Denver Housing Authority’s South Lincoln Redevelopment, is a 17.5 acre mixed-used, mixed-income transit oriented community. Seen as a national model for transit-oriented development (TOD), the redevelopment is demonstrating innovative and exceptional energy performance. Renewable energy systems, healthy living through environmentally friendly materials, attention to indoor air quality, access to quality food sources, and encouragement of active lifestyles are all staples of the redevelopment.
The design concept for MP6 is based on a phrase found in a neighborhood mural: “learning from the past, focused on the future.”
My team and I worked closely with the community to incorporate historic design references and juxtapose them with contemporary forms and materials. My approach to the design was to make a large building look like several different buildings through the articulation of building mass and a varied palette of materials.
A 16,000 sf second level courtyard covers at-grade parking and provides private outdoor common space for the residents and their guests
The project implements Enterprise Green Community standards. The installation of a solar photovoltaic array and a highly efficient HVAC system will meet DHA’s aggressive low carbon footprint goals. Mariposa Phase VI will achieve LEED HC Gold certification at a minimum, with a likelihood of LEED Platinum.
