W8 Habitat for Humanity Day!

This year for International WORKSHOP8 Day, the WORKSHOP8 team took a day away from the studio to volunteer with the Flatirons Habitat for Humanity crew on site of one of their new builds. Located on Valmont Road, we helped to piece together a triplex! It felt great being out in the field all day, and there was plenty of work to be done.

EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM

We met on site on at 8am, hard hats in hand.

TEAM “PAINT IN HAIR-DON’T CARE”

I started off the morning painting exterior siding with Chelsea and Megan. Our team name was “Paint in Hair – Don’t Care!” and I think you could guess why.

SISTERING JOISTS

Meanwhile, Alex and Matthew were inside sistering floor joists to make the floors more structurally sound.

MONKEYING AROUND ON SCAFFOLDS

The rest of the team worked together on the scaffolds to put up exterior siding.

DID YOU SAY TABLE SAW?

I heard there was a table saw on-site and couldn’t contain my excitement – I have always wanted to get my hands on one of these!

SIGNING OFF

After about 7 hours of working on-site, it was time to pack up (but not before giving the building our tattoo!).

Oh, and of course we had to leave some time for a group shot.

And a selfie.

A HAPPY ENDING

We ended our day with a happy hour at Rayback, where we decided that on August 8th of each year we want to dedicate our time by giving back to the community. So, here’s to a new tradition! Thank you to our awesome Site Superintendents, Devin, Andy, and Matt, for putting up with us for the day! You all were a great team to work with, and we hope you’ll have us back!
