Emily was born in Denver, CO but spent her childhood in Florida and North Carolina. She remembers listening to conversations about design and architecture from an early age, as both her parents are practicing architects. Her passion for traveling, the outdoors and community-based design has led her to many states and countries including Europe, Africa and most-recently a 3-month sabbatical to South America.

After attending a lecture by Cameron Sinclair of Architecture for Humanity at a conference in Chicago, Emily has been driven to work with communities in need of resources to shape their surroundings. Her passion for community-based design has led Emily to work for two non-profit architecture firms in both Raleigh, NC and Dallas and Brownsville, TX; Design Corps and buildingcommunityWORKSHOP (bcW), respectively.

While at WORKSHOP8, Emily has been the Project and Production Manager on Spring Creek Apartments, the Jamestown Fire Station, Fall River Apartments, the Langer Residence (flood-recovery) and the Denver Art Museum’s “Summer Is” installation. Emily was also Assistant Project Manager on Mariposa Phase VI. Her passion for affordable-housing design will continue to be her architectural focus.
