PROJECT DATES

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

StarRise at North Weld Village will be a 58-unit Permanently Supportive Housing (PSH) property in Greeley Colorado. The transformation of this industrial site began when High Plains received a generous donation of 6.5 acres from Dennis Hoshiko/North Weld Produce Co. with the philanthropic desire to assist in the development of permanent housing solutions for the homeless in the community. W8 worked with High Plains to develop a four-phase Master Plan for the site that will also include a new affordable 90-unit family building and two future adaptive reuse mixed-use developments.

The first-phase, StarRise pulls from an industrial architectural palette and adjoins to an existing building to serve as resident services and community space. The project is highly responsive to the population it serves and integrates Trauma-Informed Design principles into all facets of design including programming and space planning. The existing 1934 brick industrial building will include a food pantry, fitness area, maker space, kitchen and open seating as well as housing staff offices and a health provider room. Through enlarged existing openings, the adaptive-reuse portion meshes into the new building lobby. Outdoor decks, spacious laundry areas and well-lit corridors compliment the efficient one-bedroom units and are responsive to the needs of the population.
