The clean, likable design, provides a simple narrative. “Let it Fly” creates a sense of movement with a series of pop-style graphic images that reference air waves, wind, air molecules, paper airplanes in flight, a bumble bee, a dandelion blown with the promise of a wish come true, a butterfly, and a bird in flight. The blue color also references wind and clear air. Minimal paint was used on the exterior entries to the underpass in order to allow the natural, wood formed concrete to show through. This happy mural appeals to the students of the Friends School as well as surrounding neighbors. The viewer’s experience of the piece is meant to be joyful and uncomplicated.
