Joseph is a founding partner and President of WORKSHOP8 and is responsible for the firm’s operations. As Architect Principal he leads the vision and direction of project design and is responsible for the overall success of projects as well as providing QAQC for clarity, consistency, and constructibility. He has over 25 years of diverse design experience including master and site planning, hardscape design, and architectural design for multifamily, commercial, and retail projects and is an expert in energy-efficient, NetZero energy, and high-performance architecture. Joseph has worked on several historic and adaptive reuse projects and understands that these types of projects require special attention when juxtaposing historic elements, which are needed to tell the story of the past, with contemporary elements, which are of our time. Joseph’s forward-thinking approach ensures projects with lasting appeal and comfort, while his construction trades background promotes constructible designs.
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from CU Boulder. Before co-founding VaST with Brandy LeMae, he worked for several Boulder-based architecture studios. He is a licensed architect in the state of Colorado.
