SHAKE IT UP
MIX IT UP
STIR IT UP
Admittedly, one of our favorite pastimes at WORKSHOP8 is cocktail hour. We try to find every possible opportunity to have a drink: birthday and holiday celebrations, monthly money meeting, anniversary dates, stuffing valentines envelopes, cleaning the office. . . you get the gist.
TRY ONE, OR TRY THEM ALL
We had a great time coming up with individual cocktails to suit our personalities. Let us know which ones you like best. Or better yet, come on over to our studio with your own recipe (and the materials, if you’re feeling really jolly) and we’ll SHAKE, MIX, or STIR IT UP with you!
Emily’s Magical Mulled Wine
1 orange, zested and juiced
4 cups apple cider
1 bottle red wine
1/4 cup honey
2 cinnamon sticks
4 whole cloves
3 star anise
4 oranges, peeled (for garnish)
Combine the cider, wine, honey, cinnamon sticks, zest, juice, cloves and star anise in a large saucepan and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Pour into mugs, add an orange peel to each, and enjoy with friends.
The Chelsea Sparkle
1 large grapefruit
1 sprig fresh rosemary
1/2 cup grapefruit La Croix
2 shots of vodka
2 splashes grapefruit bitters
Halve your grapefruit and, if desired, cut off thin slivers to use later as garnish. Squeeze the grapefruit juice into a bowl. I got about 2/3 cup from one large fruit. Add the rosemary leaves from one sprig of rosemary to the grapefruit juice. Muddle with a muddler or back of a spoon. Evenly pour the fresh juice between two glasses. Add in 1/4 cup La Croix and one shot of vodka to each glass. Garnish with fresh rosemary and raise your glass.
Mel’s Milkshake
2 (14-oz.) containers premium chocolate ice cream
1 cup milk
3/4 to 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 cup bourbon
Pulse first three ingredients in a blender until smooth. Stir in bourbon, insert straw, and avoid brain freeze. This recipe is made to be shared, but if you’ve had a really tough day, go ahead and enjoy it straight from the blender.
Ivan’s CoCo Loco
2 cups coconut cream
1 cup coconut water
Juice of 3 limes
1/4 cup rum
1/4 cup vodka
1/4 cup tequila
Blend all ingredients with ice until smooth. Serve in a glass or a fresh coconut with a straw and lime slice. Serve immediately to your friends. Salud!
Joseph’s Apres Cycling Recovery Drink
chocolate milk
Pour desired amount into glass and drink. Can also be heated if desired. Great served with cookies.
Marcel’s Amsterdamned
1 oz orange juice
1 oz coffee liqueur
1 oz Irish cream
1 tsp chocolate liqueur
1 oz champagne
Shake all ingredients with ice, except champagne. Strain into a cocktail glass, top with champagne, garnish with mint leaves, lift your glass, and say “Proost!”
Bubbly Brandy
1 brown sugar cube
bitters
1 oz brandy
3 oz sparkling wine
Pop a sugar cube into an old-fashioned Champagne glass. Add a few drops of bitters, top with a splash of brandy. If you like, use a zester or speed peeler to peel thin strips of orange peel for garnish. Top off with sparkling wine and enjoy. Kanpai!
