Announcements.

The Fair Housing Act was signed into law in April 1968.
Everyone deserves a safe, affordable, and dignified place to call home—no matter their race, gender, ability, family status, or background. The fight for equity in housing is ongoing—and that architects, developers, and contractors all play a role in building inclusive communities.

Joseph Vigil joined the AIA Colorado Housing Task Force!
This team of architects is tackling some of the state’s most pressing housing issues—working toward equitable solutions where the architecture profession can make the biggest impact.

Fire at North Weld Village
In the early hours of April 27, a fire broke out at Building One on the North Weld Village site. Thanks to the swift response of the Greeley Fire Department and mutual aid crews, the blaze was contained with no injuries reported. WORKSHOP8 is already at work conceptualizing a new building within the remaining brick walls of Building One—currently being referred to as PhoenixRising. This design approach is known as façadism.

Overlook | Thornton
New building signage is now installed across the property, replacing decades-old wayfinding with bold, clear, and colorful markers. Designed by WORKSHOP8 and fabricated by Ad Light Group, the updated signage system improves visibility, strengthens each building’s identity, and makes navigation easier for residents and visitors alike.
The ADA-accessible unit rehab is looking sharp with new floors and doors, fresh cabinets, brand-new appliances, and updated bathroom fittings and fixtures.
WORKSHOP8 provided architecture, interior design, and environmental graphics for both the rehab and new construction—helping to modernize and enhance accessibility for residents.

StarRise | Greeley
At WORKSHOP8, we believe even corridors deserve a little love—so we make them wider and brighter. Natural light at the end of each hallway offers a connection to the outdoors.
Siding is going up, and the vision is coming to life at North Weld Village! This Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) project blends adaptive reuse with new construction—and every material choice was made with durability in mind. From corrugated metal and stucco to a mix of reclaimed and new brick, each finish is selected to stand the test of time while honoring the site’s industrial past.

Chelsea’s Birthday – May 5th
We celebrated Chelsea Semelka Rietz‘s Cinco de Mayo birthday with tacos, laughter, and good vibes all around. Happy birthday to our amazing Interior Design Manager!
Just for Fun.

Imagine Me as an Octopus!
Meet Tashi, our first feature in a new series where we reimagine our WORKSHOP8 team (and their companions) as charming cephalopods.
Tashi is Marcel’s sweet, quiet office pup—she spends most of her time curled up under his desk, quietly supervising the design process.
We asked ourselves: What if Tashi were an octopus? And voilà—say hello to OctoTashi!
We teamed up with ChatGPT to help create this playful transformation, and we’ve got more coming soon. Get ready to see the rest of the W8 crew go tentacled!
