It Could Be Me

In 2020, WORKSHOP8 teamed up with advocate and crash survivor Triny Willerton to bring the #ItCouldBeMe safety campaign to life — one paint stroke at a time. The mural was created to raise awareness and empathy for cyclists in our community, reminding us that behind every helmet is a human heart.

Triny launched #ItCouldBeMe as part of a multi-pronged strategy that includes visual campaigns, policy advocacy, education, and community outreach. The mural — designed by Brandy and painted by Team Toby 2020 as part of WORKSHOP8’s community engagement — brightens a garden wall along Iris Avenue in Boulder. It embodies a bold, human-first message and has been warmly embraced by the community.

Watch the time‑lapse video to see the mural evolve from blank canvas to bold statement.
