VIRTUAL CHEERS TO OUR AMAZING STAFF!
Due to COVID-19, the W8 crew has been working at home since March. We’ve gotten used to some factors of working remotely, but NOT the fact that we can’t celebrate milestones the proper W8 way – drinks on the porch!! So, we’ve got some past & upcoming workiversaries to commemorate. Let’s see what everyone’s been up to all their years here (keep in mind, in a studio our size almost everyone gets their hands in each project at some point).
IVAN PATINO: 5 YEARS [6/12/15]
Over the past 5 years, Ivan has continued making us laugh, finding puns in otherwise stressful situations. Ivan started off at W8 as an intern in 2015 and 2 years later was awarded the AIA North Chapter’s “Intern of the Year.” Today, Ivan takes the lead as Project Manager across a range of projects. A few of his spotlight projects include:
Project Manager, SIP Garage
Drawing Manager, Cedaredge
Designer, Sweet Engine Mural Concept
Project Manager, Gateway Rowhomes
Project Manager, Lipan SIP Addition
Project Manager, Aden & Brackett Hall T.I.
Drawing Manager, Fall River
Project Manager, IPIE
ALEX: 3 YEARS [4/11/17]
Before Alex came to W8 he took a ferry to work on Martha’s Vineyard every day. Now, he’s either riding his 1996 Honda CB750 or Giant TCR to the office; truly, he’s an Architect and adventurer in one. Alex has tackled a wide variety of projects during his time here. And, he got engaged last year! To name a few projects keeping him busy:
Project Architect, Golden Garage
Project Architect, Scrub Oak Circle
Project Architect, Grow Gardens
Project Architect, Connections @ 6th Ave
Project Architect, Windsor Senior Apartments
MEGAN: 2 YEARS [5/21/18]
Megan came to us upon graduating from the University of Colorado Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a minor in Sustainability. She began at W8 serving primarily as production staff (a.k.a “BIM Monkey”) and today she takes the lead as a Project Manager on commercial and multi-family rehab projects! Megan also got engaged last year in Hawaii – Ho’omaika’i ‘ana!
Architectural Design & Production, Gateway North and South
Project Manager, SEED
Project Manager, Stearns Tower East T.I.
Drawing Manager, The Discovery Lab
MATTHEW: 2 YEARS [6/18/18]
Matthew is our “silent, but deadly” architectural designer. He may be quiet, but he knows how to get work DONE. Matthew’s primary focus over these years has been working on the renovations of the Olin Hotel Apartments. Starting off on a multifamily rehab project, he has strapped many “lessons learned” under his belt these past 2 years. Matthew graduated Marine Corps boot camp on January 10th, 2013, and after 6 years of honorable service, he left the Marine Reserves in October 2019.

Thanks for Reading!
My workiversary was shortly after the brink of the “stay at home” order. Looking back, in 2 years I nursed my dog through 2 leg surgeries, moved twice, published 50+ blogs, “won” the team 1 multifamily project, 3 commercial projects, and 1 public mural. I’ve nailed down the go-to trail mix and soda water supplies that mysteriously vanish within 2 days, and I’ve been able to put faces with names of all the folks who I have the pleasure of talking to on the phone. Most importantly, I continue learning ways to support this team so that they can focus on creating beautiful designs.
