Huzzah ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
It’s International WORKSHOP8 Day!
8/8. . . the best day of the year is here again!
To celebrate this momentous occasion, we wanted to bring you up to speed with the goings-on at our studio over the past 12 months, as well as share with you some things you maybe did not know about WORKSHOP8.
This is a long post, so sit back, grab a drink, and start scrolling.

“On the Boards” means we are currently working on the designs and drawing:

Stuff We’ve Done for Public Good
2015 was a pretty good year for WORKSHOP8, so we were able to share the love with several community organizations:
We donated to ARTS STREET to recognize all the great work done by the teens on the unit signs for The Aerie.
As a direct give back to the Boulder Community, we donated the design and installation of Let it Fly! mural in one of Boulder’s well used bike underpasses. You can read about our experience in Ivan’s post, “Mural Morals”.
We also spent a volunteer day with Habitat for Humanity.
The W8 year wouldn’t be complete without some rockin’ public art projects. We just can’t help ourselves. We designed a series of pavers that are going to be a part of a planned facelift for the Boulder International Peace Garden (fingers crossed).
For Colorado Gives Day we donated to:
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
BOULDER FOOD RESCUE
BRIDGE HOUSE
COMMUNITY CYCLES
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF THE SAINT VRAIN VALLEY
KARIS COMMUNITYTHE CATAMOUNTS
LONGMONT HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
LONGMONT HUMANE SOCIETY
Stuff We’ve Done for Fun
We work super hard for our clients, so we like to have a good time when we can. Over the last 12 months:
attended the AIA Conference in Keystone,
threw a big party for our clients,
celebrated the 25 year anniversary of the Boulder International Peace Garden,
got some W8 hoodies,
sent out over 400 KissFace Valentines,
threw a great street party for the 15th Street Design District,
presented at the “Imagine a Great Boulder” event,
attended the NAHRO conference in Vail,
got a designer “mug” shot taken,
and hosted several Parties on the Porch.
Awards We’ve Won
JAMESTOWN VOLUNTEER FIRE STATION AIA Citation Award for Commercial Design
STANLEY MARKETPLACE Real Estate Champion, Adaptive Reuse
And we got named in the top 20 Green Businesses in Boulder!
Our Hopes and Dreams
We are fortunate to work with really great clients of awesome projects, but that doesn’t keep us from wanting MORE! Here are some of the types of projects we’d love to work on:
- help more restauranteurs / bar owners develop their brand and interior design;
- work with a creative business owner to design a destination, boutique hotel;
- create more commissioned art works for developers and municipalities;
- continue to design beautiful, functional, and viable multifamily projects;
- design an art gallery or museum.
Who is Toby?
Toby, my dear friends, is the name of the WORKSHOP8 mascot. . .
What does the 8 stand for?
Our 8 Values!
artistry | collaboration | exploration | integrity | leadership | passion | sustainability | viability
Phew! That was a lot for one year–here’s to hoping next W8 year will be full of equally fun projects!
